Regina Tornado Project

Feb 15, 2012

Dear friends, The Regina Tornado Legacy Group is looking for artists to submit proposals for sculptural or mural installations that will be permanently installed in Regina’s downtown and warehouse district, to help commemorate the community spirit that helped re-build Regina following the 1912 Tornado.  This event still ranks as the worst natural disaster in Canadian history, yet many of our current generation don’t even know it happened. Attached are a few documents that you might find interesting or inspiring….a background document on the tornado, with one photograph that is a little mindboggling when you consider the devastation to our city; a mural process document from Windsor, Ontario, that is serving as a bit of a model for us; the media release from the Tornado group, and the complete Call for Submissions document that includes photographs and descriptions of some of the locations being considered. Our timeline for this project is pretty tight.  If you can help spread the word to artists that you think might be interested in submitting, that would be great.  The first deadline is March 9th, about one month from now. Thanks very much, Marian www.creativecitycentre.ca Tel: 306.546.5565
