Heritage Builds Resilience Conference in PEI
Oct 16, 2014
Saskatchewan was well represented both as delegates and presenters at Heritage Canada The National Trust's
Heritage Builds Resilience 2014 conference, October 2-4. Charlottetown, PEI is a city that had protected its heritage resources for over 40 years and adapted to change. It was the host city for the conference, and proved a great example of how heritage contributes to resilient, revitalized and sustainable communities!
Delegates were inspired by numerous presentations on a variety of heritage conservation topics including a Living Heritage project in Burlington, Newfoundland. Shaun Majumder (
This Hour had 22 Minutes) and Peter Blackie (Architect, Producer of
Majumder Manor) provided delegates with an awe-inspiring example of a community development project (the focus of the documentary series
Majumder Manor on the W Network in Canada) where the residents are taking pride and directing the revitalization of their community into a sustainable destination area.
Thank you to HCNT for great conference and the residents of PEI for their hospitality!
