X-Ray Technology Aids RSM in Understanding Their Collections

Funding through the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Museum Assistance Program (MAP) has allowed the Royal Saskatchewan Museum to purchase a portable X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer device in order to study artifacts in the museum for inorganic substances such as pesticides. The RSM has secured funding to study levels of pesticides in objects in their collection over the next year and are partnering to study objects at the RCMP Heritage Centre and the Western Development Museum as well.
