Saskatchewan Ecomuseums Initiative receives International Award

The United Nations University Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) Award was accepted by Roger Petry and Lyle Benko, Co-coordinators of RCE Saskatchewan on behalf of Dr. Glenn Sutter (Royal Saskatchewan Museum – project leader), Museums Association of Saskatchewan, Heritage Saskatchewan, SaskCulture, Raven Consortium, and Heritage Canada - The National Trust for all of the hard work in advancing the Saskatchewan Ecomuseums Initiative (SEI). The project was recognized in the category of "Bridging Local Knowledge and Global Perspectives on Sustainable Development."  Projects were ranked among those worthy of honourary mention, those worthy of recognition as a multistakeholder RCE project, and those to be recognized as "outstanding RCE flagship projects". The Saskatchewan Ecomuseums Project was recognized as an outstanding RCE flagship project before a global delegate body of over 150 international delegates including over 70 Regional Centres of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development, representatives from UNESCO and other UN Agencies, along with a great many local attendees and dignitaries in Okayama, Japan, including RCE Okayama. Congratulations to all for this significant accomplishment!
