A Fundraising Success in Wolseley, Saskatchewan

Ottawa, ON, February 20, 2015 –The National Trust for Canada congratulates the Wolseley Heritage Foundation (WHF) for raising over $600,000 for the Wolseley Community Revitalization Initiative, a program designed to continue the successes in historic restoration and cultural revitalization begun by the Main Street Wolseley Program in 2011. The National Trust is pleased to have been a part of this successful fundraising campaign. Just over a year ago, WHF developed the objective of raising $500,000 before December 31, 2014 in order to finance the ongoing activities associated with their revitalization efforts. A significant portion of these funds - $100,000 – was received via a pledge partnership with the National Trust. This pledge provided critical momentum and helped mobilize the community to donate to the campaign. The funding provided by the National Trust to support the Wolseley Community Revitalization Initiative was made possible by a generous donor who designated the gift for the Wolseley initiative. “The National Trust is proud to have played a part in Wolseley’s extraordinary achievement,” said Natalie Bull, Executive Director of the National Trust. “Wolseley has demonstrated that Canada’s historic downtowns are a worthwhile investment and that funding partnerships like this can be a catalyst for success. We look forward to sharing their story as an inspiration to communities across Canada.” Using the National Trust’s proven Main Street® methodology as a tool for economic and cultural revitalization, WHF has undertaken eleven capital building projects in the historic commercial downtown area and attracted over $2 million in private re-investment. Natalie Bull will be joining Philippe Robidoux, Chair of the Wolseley Heritage Foundation Board of Directors, for a formal announcement as part of Heritage Week 2015 taking place tomorrow evening at the historic Town Hall/Opera House in Wolseley, Saskatchewan.
